What is the myStrom Button Max Tool?

myStrom Button Max Tool is a graphical editor that allows you to create your own configuration files for Button Max, with custom commands, icons, and more.

What are the commands for myStrom devices?

Switches
Use HTTP GET method. Replace the IP with the IP of your device.

Toggle

Bulbs & Strips
Use HTTP POST method. Replace the IP with the IP of your device, and the MAC with the MAC of your device.

How do I introduce my own custom icons?

Your custom icons must be present in the “Icons” directory. The “Icons” directory can be accessed via “Show directory” in the Icon Selection submenu. Closing and reopening said menu refreshes its contents. There are 3 icon sizes – small, medium, large.

Small
Size: 44 x 44 px
Image type: bmp (bitmap)
Colors: 1-bit (black and white)
File name requirements: must end in “-small”, e.g. “my-icon-small.bmp”

Medium
Size: 132 x 132 px
Image type: bmp
Colors: 1-bit (black and white)
File name requirements: must end in “-medium”, e.g. “my-icon-medium.bmp”

Large
Size: 200 x 200 px
Image type: bmp
Colors: 1-bit (black and white)
File name requirements: must end in “-large”, e.g. “my-icon-large.bmp”

Button Max Custom Firmware

About

You need to replace the Button Max firmware with the Button Max Custom Firmware before you can use it with myStrom Button Max Tool.

Preparatory steps for Button Max with firmware version 1.2.1

Switch the button to tool mode first:
curl -i -d ‘{“mode”:”tool”}’ http:///api/v1/settings

Example:
curl -i -d ‘{“mode”:”tool”}’ http://192.168.1.139/api/v1/settings

If necessary, use this command to switch Max back to myStrom cloud mode:
curl -i -d ‘{“mode”:”cloud”}’ http://192.168.1.139/api/v1/settings

Download Custom Firmware

Install Custom Firmware

  • Power Button Max
  • If you haven’t done it already: Add Button Max to your WiFi via myStrom App, its Web UI, or via myStrom Troubleshooting Tool
  • After that, access Button Max Web UI by entering its IP address in a web browser
  • Select “Firmware Upgrade” in Burger Menu
  • Select “Downloaded File”, select the Custom Firmware and start the firmware upgrade
  • Wait for Firmware upgrade to finish. Button Max will reboot
  • Button Max can now be connected via “SETTINGS” > “Select Button Max” in myStrom Button Max Tool
  • Reconnect after reset or lost WiFi connection

  • Power Button Max
  • Screen displays myStrom logo
  • Press any button
  • On Button Max, select connection method – WPS or Manual
  • Follow the on-screen instructions
  • Button Max becomes again available in myStrom Button Max Tool
  • Reinstalling myStrom Firmware

  • Power Button Max
  • If Button Max is not connected to WiFi – reconnect it first (see above)
  • If Button Max is connected to WiFi: Start up myStrom Troubleshooting Tool
  • Therein, select “Device List” to discover your Button Max, then click on “Details” next to it, then “Upgrade”. This will overwrite Button Max Custom Firmware with Button Max myStrom Firmware.
  • Button Max becomes again available in the myStrom App
